The Tyler School of Art Department of Art History is sponsoring a discussion with Alison Hokanson on Thursday night at 5 p.m. on the significance of Belgian art. “The Soul of Things: Realism and Symbolism in Late Nineteenth-Century Belgian Art” will focus on the work of Xavier Mellery and his drawing series “The Soul of Things.”
In 1880, Belgium became a surprising lead in Europe’s creative front. “The Soul of Things” series expressed a new vision of modern art by revealing mysterious facets of the everyday world. This discussion is free and open to all in Anderson Hall Room 7.
